Condolences

Condolence From: Jean Grochowski
Condolence: I am so appreciative that I had Beverly and Otto Tarnowski as my godparents - two wonderful, kind, gentle, generous people who modeled sincerity, humility, and Christian values. You cannot find more genuine people than these, and I am sad today to say goodbye to Beverly. I have so many lovely memories of her and Otto - including when I was a student at Marquette, and they welcomed me into their home for 'study weekends'. They would pick me up on Friday evenings outside my dorm in Milwaukee, and I stayed with them in their guest room where I would study for hours on end (I was in a difficult Engineering program that required lots of study!). Friday nights usually involved treating me to a great fish fry dinner! And the rest of the weekends when I wasn't studying were highlighted by getting to spend time talking with them, enjoying delicious home-cooked meals with them, practicing my Spanish with them while listening to stories related to their annual travels to Zihuatanejo, Mexico, discussing my co-op job at Briggs and Stratton with Otto, and going to Sunday Mass with them before they would take me back to my dorm at Marquette. Beverly always made sure I went back with lots of homemade food and treats and goodies, as well as produce from their giant garden. She always took such good care of me. My second-fondest memory of Beverly was when she and Otto would visit me at my family's cottage on Lake Beulah. I can picture Beverly walking down the hill with the ever-present smile beaming on her face. I enjoyed their visits so much. They always took an interest in my life and never missed sending me a birthday card, or a Christmas card, along with hand-written updates of their activities. Beverly also liked cats, she took in many strays at her home and cared for each and every one of them lovingly. When I was in my late twenties and finally had cats of my own she never failed to ask me about them when I would see her. R.I.P. Beverly, you made the world a better place, and you blessed my life in ways that will never be forgotten. Love, your godchild Jeannie
