Obituary for Allyn J. Sweet

Sweet, Allyn J.
Age 86, passed away peacefully June 20th at his home under the care of his family and hospice.
Born in Milwaukee, January 25, 1931 to Jerome and Elvera (Mueller) Sweet. Allyn was a graduate of Messmer High School and Marquette University B.A. Business. Allyn retired from Milwaukee County Social Services in 1993 after 25 years as a social worker for the elderly.
Allyn met Rita Brill at work in 1954 and they married in 1955. They remained devoted to one another for (62) years. Together in their Catholic Faith they raised (8) children, all attending Catholic Grade School and High School. Allyn spent much of his life volunteering in the Church as an alter server, lectern reader, Eucharistic Minister, Holy Name member. Allyn volunteered in the Boy Scouts of America with his sons (3) Eagle Scouts for over 25 years and earned the Wood Badge for Scout Leadership and was awarded the Silver Beaver Distinguish Service Award. Allyn loved working in his art studio with painting, glass work and pottery.
Allyn is survived by his wife Rita, his eight children: Philip Sweet, Thomas Sweet, Gary (Geralyn) Sweet, Sharon Sweet, Terese (Dan) Moon, Mark (Kristine) Sweet, Paul (Ann) Sweet, Kenneth (MiYoung) Sweet, fifteen grandchildren: Mia, Ian, Evan, Benjamin, Melissa, Gary Jr., Luke, Jeremy, Gregory, Andrea, Nathan, Charles, Emma, Elliot, Sabina. Nine great grandchildren: Wyatt, Samuel, Luke Jr., Danielle, Henry, Briggs, Kaysen, Jamison, Michael.
Allyn is also survived by his brother Gordon (Lorene) Sweet, and sister Marilyn Vidergar, and his sister-in-law Sister Clarone Brill F.S.P.A and his brother-in-law Joseph (Louise) Brill.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, July 11, at 11:00AM at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. 800 Marquette Ave.
South Milwaukee. Visitation on Tuesday from 9:00AM until time of Mass. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Messmer Catholic Schools appreciated.
